The aim of the Creche is to maintain a behaviour and guidance policy that encourages children to be co-operative, fosters self-esteem and develops a child's ability to interact with others.
Positive guidance is needed to help a child know what to do rather than not what to do, what is safe, and how to interact positively with other children, staff and those whom they have contact with.
We will foster behavior which is based on accepting the feelings, rights and needs of others. The objectives are to:
- Encourage co-operation.
- Encourage the child to accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions.
- Assist the child to understand and appreciate the rights, feelings and needs of others.
- Help to develop respect for others.
- Help the child to understand the limits that are based on safety and concern for others.
- Assist the child in learning the rules and limits of the group in which they live and to enjoy interaction in their peer group.
- Ensure the child develops positive secure relationships with adults.
Group Guidelines
Each group within the Creche has group behavior guidelines. These are drawn up in consultation with parents and provide development plans appropriate to the ages of the group. Copies of these guidelines are in each group room.
